Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented therapeutic approach to healing trauma and related conditions, including PTSD, complex PTSD, stress, anxiety, addiction, grief, depression, chronic pain, and digestive disorders.
Abuse of all types — including neglect, oppression, and abandonment — creates trauma when it goes unhealed. Somatic Experiencing can also help release trauma from automobile accidents, medical procedures, and shock, allowing the body to dissipate these energies. Emotions and events can get stuck in the body and be long forgotten, quietly creating stress and other unhealthy states within our being.
Somatic Experiencing helps you access body memory and restore balance. You do not have to relive an experience to release it. These trapped emotions can be safely released, and the nervous system can begin to re-regulate to its innate goodness.
Energy Healing & Spiritual Support
Energy Healing uses a holistic approach to promoting wellness and releasing disharmony from our field. Science is now confirming what the ancients long understood: we have a bio-energetic field within and around us that shifts with how we feel and the state of our being. Anita uses sound, aroma, intuition, and Pranic, Reiki, and color therapy to restore and rejuvenate the body, drawing on over 20 years of practice.
Energy healing helps us get in touch with our inner self and live a more authentic life by aligning body, mind, and soul. Everything is energy, so working with this field can remove blockages, old patterns, and behaviors we no longer want to carry. It lifts away heaviness and brings us into a lighter, more conscious version of ourselves.
Spiritual Support
Anita also supports clients navigating spiritual challenges, including Kundalini syndrome and spiritual emergence. This specialized area of healing helps you reconnect with your authentic self and move through these misalignments — integrating the experience into the body rather than bypassing it.
Trauma-Informed Bodywork
Trauma-informed therapy creates a safe environment that allows the body to release trauma and rebuild trust and safety within itself. Adverse childhood experiences — along with other life events — can bring us into a state of imbalance and disconnection from the body. Sometimes we experience this as “checking out,” or not being fully present. A person may move into fight, flight, freeze, or fawn states when experiencing trauma.
This type of bodywork differs from traditional massage therapy: it takes the trauma into account, uses an informed approach, and may be done seated in a chair with no touch at all if preferred. That makes it a good starting point when sexual abuse has occurred. We work collaboratively with each client to understand their needs and to educate, restore, and rebuild their relationship with the body.
As with traditional massage, the benefits include deep relaxation and improved overall health. Trauma-informed massage and therapeutic touch — including Craniosacral therapy and lymphatic drainage — help decrease disease, stress, and tension in the body. When we feel safety, comfort, and support through this kind of bodywork, it can help repair and rejuvenate us back into wellness.
Ayurveda & Yoga
Ayurveda and yoga therapy are woven into sessions as needed — offering practical, personalized guidance for the hours between our appointments.
Ayurveda means “the science of life.” Developed over 5,000 years ago and a sister science to yoga, it works from a simple premise: what you eat, how you sleep, and how you move shape how you feel. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, it looks at the whole picture — your patterns, temperament, and daily rhythm — to find where things have fallen out of balance.
Ayurveda understands each of us as a unique blend of five elements, expressed through three doshas:
- Vata (Air + Ether) — movement, creativity, and change
- Pitta (Fire + Water) — digestion, drive, and transformation
- Kapha (Water + Earth) — structure, steadiness, and calm
Understanding your own constitution makes it easier to recognize what throws you off — and what brings you back. Together we’ll find small, sustainable shifts in diet, routine, and self-care that support the deeper work.
